The government has sent out a new guidance letter to all those in England who are clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) informing them that, from 1 April 2021, they are no longer advised to shield. We foresee, however, that not all people who should have received a copy of this letter will have it by now.
The letter advises that from 1 April 2021 CEV workers in England should continue to work from home where possible (this applies to all workers) but if they cannot work from home they should attend their workplace. As their employer, you will need to be able to demonstrate that you have taken all the measures necessary to reduce the risk of coronavirus in the workplace.
If your employee(s) cannot work from home, CEV workers should return to work from 1 April 2021 and they will no longer be entitled to SSP on the basis of being advised to shield.
If you are unsure of your next steps, need support to inform your employees or face a challenge in getting employees to come back to the workplace you can speak to Spectra to find out what help is available.
